At other follow-up periods, conduct problems, emotional distress, and drug use were all significantly lower for SEL students. Benefits were similar regardless of students&#8217; race, socioeconomic background, or school location. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new study analyzed results from 82 different interventions involving more than 97,000 students from kindergarten to high school where the effects were assessed at least six months and up to 18 years after the programs ended. Thirty-eight of the studies were from outside the U.S., indicating that SEL programs are being conducted in several countries around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social and emotional learning teaches children to recognize and understand their emotions, feel empathy, make decisions, and build and maintain relationships. A widely cited<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001v-Wq0gtn0rLrymAf5UOuNaOdAgQ23DTCrXe1FM1NpkDc-3l1ZfXKQEP7mMVG0raRGUipY-e5IBkoN7hLNPe8JATE9V1pm32V-CxLcqIrFkq_JLb47Sx1QV6WN3cU8POegwTqaVP_KW_sET741Cf4BpqmmMa98sZ6h_Sy0Gs5-30-HwYes-nq0dNhpTGPXbodm43eN-zlyVaJgkZz0WB7juj29trSArC_3394HgInXdjyYQghJdjQDwKfLmSe0hAzX7ft9csKuFw=&amp;c=yTrDXYoY9P_wyaxr6UOGRHkkRXKDi1wsotuY_GiKbbc1VNICyU1VFA==&amp;ch=oAJNGi1J2t5Q26TfohMK6MfjJt5RhCF89J-tsPTsdtXa1vCq3C5Dow==\">
