\"educational<\/a><\/b>The University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership (CEL) has released an updated version of the Principal Support Framework. Representing the best thinking of educators from across the country, the framework describes key actions of central offices that effectively support principals as instructional leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n

School system leaders can use this framework and the related self-assessment tool to answer key questions in three action areas:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. To what degree does the school system have a shared vision of principals as instructional leaders?<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. What \u2013 if any \u2013 systems of support for developing principals as instructional leaders are in place?<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. To what extent does the school system make it possible for principals to be instructional leaders?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Each action area highlights several key ideas that describe the vision for that area, with indicators that provide possible evidence that would show a school system is fulfilling those ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The entire framework is grounded in the findings of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Leading for Effective Teaching project and other key research, including the work of Meredith Honig and colleagues at the University of Washington on central office transformation for district-wide teaching and learning improvement.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Version 2.0 continues its focus on how central office leaders can best support principal success, but includes critical updates including:<\/span><\/p>\n
