The factors compare data on two category subsets that include: <em>Job Opportunities and Competition <\/em>and <em>Academic and Work Environment<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This study looks at subset factors that examine:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Average Starting Salary for Teachers (adjusted for cost of living)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Median Annual Salary for Teachers (adjusted for cost of living)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Teachers\u2019 Income Growth Potential<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Projected Number of Teachers per 1,000 Students by Year 2022<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Unemployment Rate<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>10-Year Change in Teacher Salaries (measures change in constant dollars for teacher salaries between the 2003\u20132004 and the 2013\u20132014 academic years)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other factors examined were school climate, overall student body in poverty, and other factors from in-house studies done by Wallet Hub.<\/p>\n<p>The top five states for teachers are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Massachusetts<\/li>\n<li>Virginia<\/li>\n<li>Minnesota<\/li>\n<li>Wyoming<\/li>\n<li>New Jersey<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Full results show that the top 20 schools are mostly in the Northeastern US, with a few states in the Western US cracking the top 20.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/wallethub.com\/edu\/best-and-worst-states-for-teachers\/7159\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wallet Hub&#8217;s Best and Worst States for Teachers (2015)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent comparison of data about states, conducted by Wallet Hub, ranked states based on a number of factors.
