{"id":503,"date":"2011-08-28T11:51:27","date_gmt":"2011-08-28T15:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/?p=503"},"modified":"2012-04-26T16:50:36","modified_gmt":"2012-04-26T20:50:36","slug":"race-to-the-top-early-learning-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/race-to-the-top-early-learning-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Race to the Top \u2013 Early Learning Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Race to the Top \u2013 Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) grant applications became available August 23, causing a flurry of activity across the country.\u00a0 The purpose of RTT-ELC is to increase the quality of early childhood education in order to help close the achievement gap for low-income and disadvantaged children.<\/p>\n<p>The program has several priorities ranked in terms of importance:<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<strong>Absolute Priority:<\/strong>\u00a0 Promoting school readiness for children with high needs.\u00a0 <em>All applicants must fully meet this priority.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<strong>Competitive Preference Priorities:<\/strong> \u00a01) Including all early learning and development programs in the tiered quality rating and improvement system; and 2) understanding the status of children\u2019s learning and development at kindergarten entry.\u00a0 <em>These priorities earn applicants \u201cbonus\u201d points.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<strong>Invitational Priorities:<\/strong>\u00a0 1)\u00a0 Sustaining program effects in the early elementary grades;\u00a0 and 2) encouraging private-sector support.\u00a0 <em>These priorities are note scored, but if an applicant addresses these priorities in its proposal it may use some grant funds for work associated with these priorities.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Grant applications are due October 19, 2011 and the winners will be announced in December.\u00a0 To download the application and get further information on selection criteria and the application process, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/programs\/racetothetop-earlylearningchallenge\/index.html\">http:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/programs\/racetothetop-earlylearningchallenge\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Race to the Top \u2013 Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) grant applications became available August 23, causing a flurry of activity across the country.\u00a0 The purpose of RTT-ELC is to increase the quality of early childhood education in order to help close the achievement gap for low-income and disadvantaged children.
