Last week, the College Board<\/a>, under the leadership of David Coleman, announced upcoming (Spring 2016) wholesale changes to the format of the SAT, one of the two most common tests needed for students to gain college acceptance.\u00a0 For a few years now, officially every college that accepts the SAT also accepts the ACT<\/a>, the main competitor to the SAT.\u00a0 While the ACT remains more common in the Midwest and the SAT more common on the East Coast, the changes to the SAT announced this week by the College Board clearly demonstrate that the College Board is worried about losing market share to the ACT.\u00a0 This is evident based on the fact that the simplest way to sum up the changes to the test is to say the new SAT will become very similar to current ACT.<\/p>\n
