\"In<\/a>Nearly every state is revamping its teacher evaluation system, with most states requiring evaluations that employ a mixture of student performance and observation of teachers. While there has been much forward movement, there has been just as much concern, especially over the fairness of the new evaluations for teachers in non-tested grades and subjects.<\/p>\n

In this month\u2019s issue brief, we explore one of the most promising elements of new teacher evaluation systems, Student Learning Objectives (SLOs). SLOs give teachers a voice in their own evaluation and put student growth at the center of the professional development experience. We also explore various perspectives on the future of teacher evaluation. We\u2019d love to hear about ways your state, district or school is implementing teacher evaluation.
