{"id":2074,"date":"2012-10-18T10:44:57","date_gmt":"2012-10-18T14:44:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/?p=2074"},"modified":"2012-10-18T10:44:57","modified_gmt":"2012-10-18T14:44:57","slug":"left-out-of-no-child-left-behind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/left-out-of-no-child-left-behind\/","title":{"rendered":"Left Out of No Child Left Behind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/left-out-of-no-child-left-behind\/teach-for-america\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2075\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2075 alignleft\" title=\"teach for america\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/teach-for-america.jpg?resize=129%2C103\" alt=\"\" width=\"129\" height=\"103\" \/><\/a>In a new report from the American Enterprise Institute, author Alexander Russo reflects on Teach For America\u2019s struggles in the era of NCLB.\u00a0 The key points of <em>Left out of No Child Behind: Teach for America\u2019s Outsized Influence on Alternative Certification<\/em> are below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teach for America, one of the nation&#8217;s foremost education reform organizations, was one of the first to build a lobbying presence on Capitol Hill; however, it almost failed to do so in time to protect its interests during passage of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act in the early 2000s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>NCLB held significant provisions that directly affected TFA &#8212; in particular, defining what it meant for a teacher to be &#8220;highly qualified&#8221; and mandating that every student have a highly qualified teacher by 2014.
