Resource Watch: ‘Pinteresting’ Idea for Teachers – Teaching Now – Education Week Teacher<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Grockit, the online test prep company, has recently launched a new social learning site similar to Pinterest, but designed specifically for educators and students<\/a>, according to The Journal<\/em>, an education-technology news magazine. On Learnist<\/a>, users can “pin” YouTube videos, audio clips, and other content they find on the Web to digital bulletin boards, which Grockit calls “learn boards.”<\/p>\n

The boards can be organized by theme or lesson and shared on other social media sites. Users can comment on individual posts, and educators can reorder materials on their boards.<\/p>\n

A recent article on Mashable<\/a> said Grockit founder Farbood Nivi describes Learnist as differing from Pinterest and Google in that “expert curation helps avoid the misinformation, hacked-together how-to articles and other useless content one must weed through” in a typical search. As users move through resources on Learnist, they can check off each content component they’ve completed. And Nivi said he hopes that at some point the site will also include assessments.<\/p>\n

According to The Journal<\/em>, educators have already “begun curating lessons with the site, using it to express concepts like grammar, complex fractions, and decimals.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
