{"id":1211,"date":"2012-05-07T11:37:24","date_gmt":"2012-05-07T15:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/?p=1211"},"modified":"2020-09-12T17:53:01","modified_gmt":"2020-09-12T21:53:01","slug":"why-arent-obama-and-romney-talking-about-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coreeducationllc.com\/blog2\/why-arent-obama-and-romney-talking-about-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Aren&#8217;t Obama and Romney Talking About Education?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew Rotherham weighed in on this question last week.\u00a0 Although polls show that 67% of voters in swing states said education was \u201cextremely important\u201d to them, President Obama and Mr. Romney haven\u2019t talked much about education.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Rotherham believes it is because \u201ceducation reform doesn\u2019t fit well with the overall argument either candidate is making about why he should get to sit in the Oval Office next January.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both candidates have issues with their party-base when it comes to education.\u00a0 Though Romney championed rigorous standards and declared improving schools as a critical national issue as Massachusetts governor, as a presidential candidate he has backed off and said it is an issue for the states to deal with.\u00a0 \u201cThe former moderate from Massachusetts now finds himself to the political right of President George W.
