Three hundred community organizers, parent and youth leaders, researchers, and educators from across the country attended, which highlighted several significant directions and challenges for the movement&#8217;s growth. It underscored a larger inclusion of and need for youth voice, and debate was especially passionate about engaging teachers in positive ways and collaborating with teacher unions.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers discussed the variety of ways they seek to partner with communities and engage young people in critical education and social change, but frequently cited teacher unions as a hindrance.
