Learning Forward Foundation Scholarships and Grants

The Learning Forward Foundation, formerly the National Staff Development Council, is accepting applications for grants and scholarships in several key areas:

1. Learning Forward Affiliate Grant:  This award is intended to provide a Learning Forward affiliate organization to further their local work.  Funds will allow the organization to create or expand their outreach.  Awards are up to $10,000 for multi-year projects.

2. Principal as Bridge Builder Grant:  This scholarship was created to “support the accelerating growth” of a principal who has headed an underachieving school for at least two years.  As part of the award, the recipient will be able to participate in individualized executive coaching.

3. Learning Forward Team Grant:  This grant will support teams (grade level, school or district) to help advance Learning Forward’s purpose:  “Every educator engages in effective professional development every day so that every student achieves.”  Awards are up to $10,000.

4. Chidley Fund Academy Scholarships:  There are two scholarships available in this fund to send the winners to Learning Forward’s Academy.  Each award is $3,500, and awards are geared for educators working with large populations of underserved students.  One scholarship is for a school-based teacher leader/coach, and the other is for a district leader responsible for professional learning at the system level.

5. Leading for Learning: Sybil Yastrow Superintendent’s Grant: This is a 3-year, $40,000 district/foundation partnership grant.  The winning superintendent will (along with a district leadership team) use the funds to “lead his or her district to develop a culture of high-performing professional learning communities to achieve Learning Forward’s purpose.”

The deadline for most applications is March 1, 2012. Chidley Fund applications are due March 15, 2012.
